Plant Care: Cercestis Mirabilis Care
Whenever I talk about plants, I can’t help but imagine how a particular plant matches my preference, my lifestyle, and the spot where I plan to put it. I try to figure out if it is something that I can sustain to grow and add a fresh and vibrant vibe to a place, either my home or an office. Thus, I tend to read lots of information before deciding because I want to choose the plant that matches my preferences.
One of the plants that I like is the Cercestis Mirabilis, which originated from the African region. Its color is a playful combination of lime, mint to deep green hues. As these plants grow old, expect these shades to turn into a solid green with unique shapes and textures. The regular size of its leaves can be as bigger as a human hand, while its tallest height may reach up to two feet. Not to mention, Cercestis Mirabilis also grows small yellow flowers during the summertime.
Humidity
The more humidity the Cercestis Mirabilis receives, the more its leaves will grow and expand. If the place does not deliver enough moisture, then consider grouping the plans at home together. Another alternative will be to have a humidifier at home. If the plant is not receiving enough humidity it needs, you will notice brown specs in the leaves.
Soil Requirement
This plant thrives in regular soil. But if you wish to make it extra healthy, adding some moss and perlite will also be an advantage. It needs moist yet well-drained soil to grow healthy.
Sun Exposure
The Cercestis Mirabilis can grow under a bright light. However, you can also transition it to a much-shaded place gradually. You can put it under other plants or trees that are
higher than it in terms of height. It grows best in low light and high moisture types of exposure and environment.
Watering Guide
Similar to other beautiful plants like Calathea, the Cercestis Mirabilis is also fond of moisture. It has to be medium-dry to thrive – not too dry and not too soaked. If you feel that the top part of the soil is a bit dry, then it is time to add some water. After all, there will be holes in the pot that can help the plant get rid of the excess water for draining.
Pests and Diseases
Good news! This plant is not prone to lots of pests. You have to be careful when putting it indoors, like a glasshouse, for example, because problems like scale, red spider mites, and thrips might settle on its leaves. If you notice that other plants may have pests, you may consider isolating this plant so that the pests won’t be passed on to it.
The Cercestis Mirabilis, with its undeniable beauty and charm, deserves a spot in any home or office out there. Give it a chance, and you will be surprised at how many vibes it can bring into your place. Good luck
